The treasure unearthed in Korydalla Ancient City, located in Kumluca District, west of Antalya Province, in 1963 and dated to 6th century ВС, which includes gold and silver liturgical goods, plates, pedestal cups, small columns, column bases, capitals (column caps) and iconographic coatings, is known as "Kumluca Treasure". Some pieces of the treasure were illegally exported from Turkey.
Next, it is understood from the dedicated inscriptions and monograms on the mentioned artifacts that many of the artifacts have been given as a gift to Sion Church by the charitable Bishop Eutykhianos. Besides, stamps indicating to be made in Constantinople (Istanbul) in the period of Justinian I. (527-565 AD) exist on many of the artifacts.
Furthermore, some pieces of the Korydalla Treasure have been taken under protection by the Antalya Museum. The other pieces have been ascertained in a catalog published by the Dumbarthon Oaks Museum in 1967.
After all, with the intention of the return of artifacts housed in the Museum to Turkey, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism officials have been conducting bilateral negotiations with the officials of the Dumbarton Oaks Museum in Washington, DC since 1967.
