He was the Commissioner in the demarcation of boundaries of the Spanish and Portuguese colonies, north of the Amazon River in southern America. He was the Governor and Captain General of the Provinces of Venezuela and Santo Domingo. He participated in the battle of Tolon, in the naval blockade of Ingtaterra and in the battle of Pensacofa.
