As old folks tell, the car belonged to two thieves who had stolen diamonds in the Sperrgebiet (Diamond Restricted Area) and fled in this car, followed by the police.
At this spot the diamond detectives caught up with them and both thieves were killed in a gunfight (the bullet holes still bear witness).
It is said that the diamonds were never retrieved and that the two thieves are haunting the Geisterschlucht (Ghost valley) in moonlit nights ever since, still looking for the lost diamonds...
