In 1737, with the contribution of Benedetto XIII and the insistence of Cardinal Annibale Albani, the inside of the church was transformed by the Urbino architect Filippo Barigioni with the help of Vanvitelli. Despite losing its original layout this church still remains impressive with this 17th century transformation.
