Found in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka & Myanmar. Lives in marshes and jheels, mudbanks in rivers and also in estuarine mudflats. Feeds on tadpoles, frogs, mollusks, insects and vegetables matters. Lays 4 eggs; Incubation - 21 days. Status: Endangered; Schedule-I of wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
