George Frederick Samuel Robinson, 1st Marquess of Ripon (1827-1909) Governor General and Viceroy of India (1880-1884). Before he came to Calcutta to join as Governor General and Viceroy of India George Frederick Samuel (Earl of Ripon) was a member of the British parliament from 1852 to 1879.
