The "Feminine Pursuits" painting which is located at the top of the photograph was painted in the early 17th century. Standing in the centre of the picture, the housewife inspects her maidens, who are diligent absorbed in their needlework. The maidens reflect the skills which all women must develop in order to become good and virtuous wives. Seen in a broader perspective, the motif represents Youth, Juventus (age 23-41), the fourth of the Seven Ages of Man.
